BPS Reveals Indonesia's Import Value Reaches 115.94 Billion US Dollars In Semester I-2025
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded the performance of the import value from January to June 2025 amounting to 115.94 billion US dollars, or an increase of 5.25 percent when compared to the same period in the previous year or year on year (yoy) of 125.73 billion US dollars.
Deputy for Statistics for Distribution and Services Pudji Ismartini said the increase in import value from January to June 2025 was driven by the performance of non-oil and gas imports (oil and gas) which reached 100.07 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.60 percent (yoy) when compared to the same period in 2024 of 92.14 billion US dollars.
Meanwhile, the value of oil and gas imports from January to June 2025 reached 15.86 billion US dollars, or a decrease of 11.91 percent (yoy) when compared to the same period in 2024 of 18.01 billion US dollars.
He added that total imports from January to June 2025 increased by 5.25 percent (yoy) with an increase in imports contributed by imports of capital goods of 3.61 percent.
As for the use, cumulatively increasing the value of imports occurs in auxiliary raw materials and capital goods which reach 82.75 billion US dollars, an increase of 2.56 percent (yoy).
Pudji said that the increase in imports of auxiliary raw materials with the largest increase in precious metals and jewelry or gems (HS 71), cocoa and processed (HS 17), and various chemical product preparations (HS 38).
"Then as the main contributor to the increase in imports, capital goods reached 23 billion US dollars, an increase of 20.90 percent, with an increase of 3.61 percent," he said at a press conference, Friday, August 1.
Pudji said that the increased imports of capital goods were mechanical machinery or equipment and parts (HS 84), electric machinery and equipment and parts (HS 85), and vehicles and parts (HS 87).
Meanwhile, imports of consumer goods reached 10.18 billion US dollars or contracted 2.47 percent on an annual basis.
Meanwhile, based on the country and the main destination for imports, the value of non-oil and gas imports to China was recorded at US$40.00 billion, an increase compared to January to June 2024 of US$32.77 billion.
Furthermore, the value of non-oil and gas imports to Japan was recorded at 7.47 billion US dollars, an increase compared to January to June 2024 of 6.48 billion US dollars.
Next, the value of non-oil and gas imports to the United States was recorded at 4.87 billion US dollars, an increase compared to January to June 2024 of 4.56 billion US dollars.
