For The Sake Of The Indonesian National Team, PSSI Asks I-League To Increase Competition Holidays For 4 Days
PSSI is proposing negotiations regarding the addition of the competition holiday in September 2025. This is being submitted to PT Liga Indonesia Baru (I-League) as the operator of the country's competition.
PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum), Erick Thohir, said that the application for this additional holiday was to accommodate the Indonesian national team at the FIFA Matchday and preparations for Indonesia U-23 for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
"We are also negotiating with clubs, although there has been an agreement between PSSI and PT LIB (I-League) on FIFA Match Day, there is an additional four days (holiday). If there is no Europe, yes, an additional four days."
"It's just that we also thank PT LIB for an additional four days. Well, we still want to talk to I-League, whether or not we can add another three days, specifically for the U-23," said Erick Thohir at a press conference at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Erick said that currently PSSI has not officially written to I-League. However, communication with the club has been built. The hope is that PSSI's application will not receive resistance from the club.
"It hasn't been conveyed yet. This is again talking to I-League and the club. You see, the club's 20s (August) match schedule, if I'm not mistaken, is over."
"Well, if the schedule has been given for four days, we want to add it. Well, this is what we are trying to socialize to clubs to make the U-23 Asian Cup Qualification, the team is prime," said the PSSI Chairman.
The 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualification will take place at the Delta Sidoarjo Stadium on September 3-9, 2025. The chairman of PSSI wants players to be able to prepare longer to explain this tournament.
Intensive preparation is urgently needed because one of the opponents to be faced is South Korea U-23. In addition, the U-23 Indonesian national team is in Group J with Laos and Macau.
