Joshua Zirkzee Wants To Try Competing On The Line In Front Of Manchester United, Which Is Short

The arrival of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in this summer's stock exchange has made Manchester United's front line even more crowded.

Ruben Amorim has indeed emphasized his plan for the transfer market that he wants to find a beru striker to solve the problem of minimal goals for Manchester United.

However, the arrival of the two new players made the old strikers nervous. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund's future - two strikers who did not fail to become the solution for the 2024/2025 season - became a question mark.

However, Zirkzee insists he prefers to stay at Old Trafford. He said he was not afraid of Manchester United's prospects for signing a new striker this summer.

"I think it's part of being at this club. To be honest I don't read the news, but if any other strikers come, I think it's just a good competition. So, I'm not too worried."

"Everything is for the team, there is no fire here, it's not my spell. If it's to help the team, then that's good," Zirkzee said.

The Dutchman only scored three goals in the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford after a 36.5 million move from Bologna.

He's not the only one having trouble scoring. Rasmus Hojlund scored four league goals. Overall, Manchester United have only scored 44 goals in 38 league games.

The lack of goals prompted Manchester United to actively look for new strikers.

In fact, the hunt did not stop at Mbeumo and Cunha. There is strong news that Manchester United is monitoringwa Watkins and Benjamin Sesko as targets.

If one of those shots gets closer, Zirkzee and Hojlund's fate will be even more on the brink.

However, it turns out that Zirkzee does not want to bother and remains in his position. He emphasized that he would welcome additional competition.

"I don't think I'm showing my best performance yet. I think I'm on my way there (before the injury), but I think there's an improvement every day for all of us."

"(Ruben Amorim) wants the team to score goals, so that's what I have to fix. That's the point. My profile is different, but in the end, if you're up front, you should be scoring goals."

"I will not ignore that fact. The most important thing is that we win. So, if Bruno scores 60 goals and we win all games, it doesn't matter," said Zirkzee.

Zirkzee was with the Manchester United squad on a pre-season tour to the United States, but missed the first match against West Ham in New Jersey with injury.

"I had a minor injury, but it shouldn't take long to recover now. I have great physiotherapists working with me every day. It's a minor injury, not a serious problem," he said.

Zirkzee had a difficult first season at Manchester United. He was ridiculed by some supporters after being replaced in the first half in a 0-2 loss to Newcastle United in December 2024.

He then scored a winning penalty in a penalty shootout at the FA Cup against Arsenal in January 2025.

However, he failed to execute him in another penalty shootout when Manchester United were eliminated by Fulham at the end of the competition.

The 24-year-old also suffered a hamstring injury in April 2025 which saw him miss the final few weeks of the 2024/2025 season before surprisingly returning to the squad during the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
