PPATK Boss Explains Reasons For Reopening Blocked Dormant Accounts

JAKARTA - Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Ivan Yustiavandana, said that millions of domestic accounts had been reopened after being blocked. The reason has been checked for the background of the owner to its use.

It is known, as many as 28 million domestic accounts were previously blocked. The goal is to protect the public interest, as well as maintain the integrity of the Indonesian financial system.

"The millions of accounts are inactive, we temporarily stop the transactions and then we check the completeness of the documents and the whereabouts of the customers, and after we remind them of their account ownership, we will immediately withdraw them," Ivan told VOI, Thursday, July 31.

But it was not conveyed in detail the number of Kimmant accounts that had been reopened. It is only mentioned that the activation of the Kimmant account continues to be carried out as the inspection process progresses.

"For the tens of millions of accounts that we have stopped since a few months ago, we have reopened," he said.

Ivan stated that the blocking of Dormant accounts was very effective in suppressing the practice of online gambling (judol). Because, when a deposit value is made, it decreases drastically.

"When we freeze the bangmant, we freeze the judol deposit directly up to minus 70 percent more," said Ivan.

When talking about money, the value of the decline in online judo deposits after the blocking of Dormant accounts reached IDR 4 trillion.

On this basis, the blocking of a domestic or passive account is considered very effective in suppressing the disturbing practice of judol.

"From more than IDR 5 trillion to only more than IDR 1 trillion," said Ivan.
