Blocking Dormant Account, PPATK Boss: Deposit Judol Nyungsep

JAKARTA - Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Ivan Yustiavandana, said that the blocking of Dormant accounts was very effective in suppressing the practice of online gambling (judol). Because, when a deposit value is made it decreases drastically.

"When we freeze the bangmant, we immediately push the judol deposit up to minus 70 percent more," Ivan told VOI, Thursday, July 31.

When talking about money, the value of the decline in online judo deposits after the blocking of Dormant accounts reached IDR 4 trillion.

On this basis, the blocking of a domestic or passive account is considered very effective in suppressing the disturbing practice of judol.

"From more than IDR 5 trillion to only more than IDR 1 trillion," said Ivan.

Ivan did not deny that many customers protested when blocking Dormant's account. However, when traced, it was discovered that their account was stored in the proceeds of crime.

"Some (a few thousands of customers) submitted complaints and asked for an account opening to PPATK because they felt frozen as a result of being inactive," said Ivan.

From the results of the examination, thousands of customers protested that the blocking was not on the grounds of domestic violence or passive accounts. Instead, it accommodates money or balance resulting from a crime.

In fact, the majority of the money stored was the result of online gambling or judol.

"After we checked, it turned out that the reason for the suspension was not because of dormant, but because it was purely a criminal proceeds holding account (the judol majority)," said Ivan.
