Islamic Boarding Schools Stirred Up by 5-Meter-Long Python Evacuated by Natuna Fire Department

NATUNA - The Natuna Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat), Riau Islands, successfully evacuated a large python that had entered the grounds of an Islamic boarding school in West Bunguran District.

Nurhakim, Head of the Facilities and Infrastructure, Data Processing, and Information Section of the Natuna Disdamkarmat, said the evacuation was carried out on Wednesday afternoon after his office received a report from residents of the Islamic boarding school who were concerned about the snake.

"The python was quite large, estimated to be five meters long. When it was found, it was near the septic tank," Nurhakim said when contacted by Antara from Natuna on Thursday, July 31.

He said officers had to work extra carefully because the snake's large size makes it stronger and more aggressive when captured. During the evacuation process, officers ensured that no residents or rescuers were injured.

"This rescue operation was successfully completed around 5:00 PM WIB. We ensured that the snake was released back into its natural habitat, far from residential areas," said Nurhakim.

He added that the release location was chosen with minimal human activity in mind to prevent future disturbances.

The Natuna Fire and Rescue Agency (Disdamkarmat) urged residents living near forests, plantations, or other natural areas to remain vigilant for the potential appearance of wild animals, such as pythons.

"Report immediately if you encounter wild or dangerous animals. Prompt response is crucial to prevent potential harm to residents," he said.
