Fake Interpol Agents, Two Foreigners Robbed A Money Changer Employee In Kuta
DENPASAR - The Kuta Police, Denpasar Police, Bali, have revealed that two foreign nationals from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan shared roles in the robbery of money belonging to a money changer in Kuta, Bali.
Kuta Police Chief, Commissioner Agus Riwayanto Diputra, said during a press conference in Denpasar on Thursday that the two foreign nationals were Evgeniy Victorovich Pak (EVP) from Uzbekistan and Taccoddin Fazil Oglu Tajaddin Hajiyep (TH) from Azerbaijan.
"Both of them pretended to want to exchange money. The suspect, TH, contacted the victim, and EVP claimed to be an Interpol agent to deceive the victim," he said, accompanied by the Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police, Adjunct Commissioner Ketut Sukadi, as quoted by ANTARA on Thursday, July 31.
Agus explained that the two suspects were arrested by police and residents while robbing two employees of a money changer at Aura Segara Villa, Tuban, Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali, on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at around 11:30 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time).
Initially, the victim received a message from suspect TH via Telegram asking about the current USDT (cryptocurrency) exchange rate. After explaining the rupiah exchange rate to the perpetrator's money, the victim prepared to send two employees to the villa address he had provided.
The perpetrator initially intended to exchange 9,700 USDT for Rp153,800,000. This was later increased to Rp191,150,000. After confirming the amount to be exchanged with the foreign national, the two money changer employees headed to the crime scene.
According to Agus, upon arriving at the Aura Segara Villa, the money changer employees, identified as F and E, informed the victim that they had met with TH. F and E were then invited into the villa. The perpetrator, TH, also sent a video to the victim showing employees F and E already at the scene.
"When they finished counting the money, suddenly from the second floor of the villa, the perpetrator, wearing a helmet and mask, appeared, claiming to be from Interpol, and immediately strangled F, while TH strangled E," said Agus.
Victim E then managed to free herself from the perpetrator's grip and rushed to seek help. As the two foreign nationals fled on a black N-Max motorcycle, residents gave chase, resulting in one of the perpetrators, TH, falling off the motorcycle and scattering a large amount of money onto the road.
The other perpetrator was arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by a joint team from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and police as he was attempting to flee to Bangkok with his girlfriend on Monday (July 28).
After an investigation, the two foreign nationals were named suspects and charged under Article 365 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning the Crime of Theft with Violence, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
