Bahlil Says Indonesia's Lifting To Reach 608,000 Barrels End of July 2025
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that by the end of July 2025, Indonesia's oil lifting target had reached 608,000 barrels per day (bpd). However, Bahlil emphasized that this figure is not an accumulated figure.
With this increase in lifting, Bahlil is optimistic that the target of 605,000 bpd stipulated in the State Budget (APBN) can be achieved.
"Yes, let's pray, I ask for support, that God willing, with the blessings, direction, and orders of President Prabowo, our lifting will be able to reach the APBN target," Bahlil said, as quoted on Thursday, July 31.
Bahlil stated that from 2018 to 2024, Indonesia's lifting performance has never reached the target set in the APBN. Bahlil revealed three challenges facing the country in achieving the lifting target. First, the current wells are old and were owned by Indonesia before independence.
Second, he continued, there are still many idle wells that have not been further optimized.
"Third, investment in the oil and gas sector is indeed incredibly large with significant risks. However, if we look at the efforts we are making with the KKKS (Contract Contractors) and our fellow entrepreneurs, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for us to improve lifting to achieve the target," Bahlil explained.
Previously, on a separate occasion, Bahlil also confirmed that he would expedite permitting for Oil and Gas Production Sharing Contract Contractors (KKKS), which is currently still in process. This is being done to achieve the oil and gas lifting target in the 2025 State Budget (APBN) of 605,000 barrels per day, which is also a priority program of President Prabowo Subianto's administration to achieve energy sovereignty.
"We all know that one of the priority programs in the President's Asta Cita is energy sovereignty. This is certainly not just a slogan, but a noble aspiration of the nation led by President Prabowo," Bahlil said at the CEO Forum 2025 at the SKK Migas office in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 30.
