TNI-Police Shoot Out With KKB Terrorists, Papua Ilaga Residents Flee
JAYAPURA - The Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, admitted that the shootout between the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and members of the TNI-Police in Ilaga caused residents to flee.
"There were indeed reports of residents living in the vicinity of Kimak Village, Thursday night, May 6, taking refuge shortly after hearing gunfire into Ilaga City", said Inspector General Fakhiri as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.
Now they have returned to their respective homes. The social security situation is said to be relatively conducive.
From the reports received, residents' activities have also begun to return to normal. However, the security forces are still on standby to ensure that the security situation remains conducive.
The police stated that there were no fatalities in the incident, and currently the condition of the residents is relatively safe.
"There were no fatalities during the firefight", said Inspector General Fakhiri.
The KKB on the night of Thursday, May 6, reportedly carried out the shooting of members of the TNI-Police in Ilaga, causing residents to flee.
