This Is A Sustainable Aspect That Must Be Attention To Tourism Industry Actors

JAKARTA - One of the founders and cultural liaison of the BaliSpirit Festival I Made Gunarta emphasized that the sustainability aspect must be applied in all lines of organizing activities that are part of tourist attractions.

"This is humanity with all its aspects. Social, culture, health, politics, all kinds of things there and the third is about the environment, sustainability. That's what I'm trying to introduce through an activity," Made said as quoted by ANTARA.

Made Gunarta gave an example when he first started the BaliSpirit Festival in 2008, he immediately promoted events with various sustainable programs and targeted visitors who were present from abroad. While preparing the event for approximately three months, he and his colleagues carried a mission to make Ubud tourism a holistic tourist destination.

"Several concerts, healthy, spiritual, environmentally friendly lives, I try this social network. We program everything at the festival, including environmental problems," he said.

Bali is also very strong in holding the cosmological concept of Tri Hita Karana which emphasizes environmental and cultural conservation, said Made Gunarta. He also tried to make local wisdom global.

Instead of talking about the philosophy of life, he introduced it through a festival. All aspects of the event emphasized the importance of protecting nature through environmentally friendly concepts.

The event did not allow any merchandise to use plastic, all goods must be health-or-recycled. Foods sold are also not allowed to use flavoring (MSG).

"We also don't use plastic in the committee, then we all implement things like this in the program. So not only on paper, but, people can see, we collaborate with SMK Putra Bangsa and 150 of our children hiring every year," he said.

The festival prepared separate trash bins for recyclables and non-recycled waste. The participants were also invited to use drinking bottles distributed to reduce plastic waste in the field.

Next, the event committee also uses bamboo rotators instead of tents because in addition to being more economical, local residents can participate in working in events. Another goal is to turn the economy by buying materials from the local.

Made Suparta added that he had even rented an area of three hectares and paid farmers according to the nominal obtained in one harvest. As soon as the festival is over, he also ensures that there is not a single nail in the area that can endanger farmers or cause environmental pollution.
