Independent Farmers Have Not Yet Felt The Economic Impact Of The MBG Program
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Breeders Association (PPRN), Alvino Antonio, revealed that the impact of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) has not been felt on livestock players, especially independent chicken breeders.
"The MBG program has not had an impact on the economy of independent breeders," Alvino told VOI, Thursday, July 31.
According to Alvino, until now the independent breeders have not felt an increase in demand or an improvement in selling prices at the home level.
In fact, the price of live chickens has slumped again and is below the cost of production (BPP), which could threaten the business continuity of small farmers.
As is known, the live chicken HPP is set at IDR 17,500/tail for the size of 1.8 kilograms/tails. But in reality, the selling price in farmers is actually below the HPP.
"In fact, today, the price of chickens living in cheap cages is again below the cost of basic production," he said.
Previously, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said that to meet the needs of 82.9 million MBG beneficiaries every day, it takes around 5,000 tons of eggs per day. And this is a challenge as well as an opportunity to increase domestic food production and distribution.
