Supervise ODOL Vehicles, UPPKB Kertapati And Pelambang Kelapa Talang Equipped By WIM

JAKARTA - The Motor Vehicle Weighing Implementation Unit (UPPKB) Kertapati and Talang Kelapa in Palembang, South Sumatra, has been equipped with a Weight in Motion (WIM) device. This technology is implemented as an effort to strengthen supervision of Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) vehicles.

WIM is a technology installed on the road body to automatically measure vehicle weight while driving without stopping (dynamically). This tool functions as an initial selection system before the vehicle is directed to a weight bridge for further verification and prosecution processes.

The Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that UPPKB is the main gateway in monitoring more dimensional and more cargo vehicles.

"If it functions optimally, it will have a major impact on the level of traffic safety and age of road infrastructure," said Aan while reviewing the operations of UPPKB Kertapati and Talang Kelapa, in Palembang, South Sumatra, Wednesday, July 30.

Aan emphasized the importance of data integration at all potential ODOL monitoring points. The MitraDarat dashboard on the UPPKB JTO system is ideally connected to vehicle data from BLUe and Police Recognition.

With an integrated data ecosystem, continued Aan, law enforcement on the fulfillment of operational provisions for goods transportation can be carried out digitally, accurately, and in real-time.

"With the integration of the system, supervision of goods transport vehicles becomes more efficient, transparent, and accountable. This is in line with the digital transformation direction of the land transportation sector," he said.

Furthermore, Aan said the Ministry of Transportation continues to encourage the potential utilization of the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme at UPPKB to support sustainable modernization.

"At the same time expanding service coverage without completely relying on the state budget," he said.
