Police Secure Car Drivers Who Show Drifting In Bukittinggi, West Sumatra
BUKITTINGGI - The Traffic Unit of the City Police of Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, secured a sedan-type car that made noise when drifting in the city center.
"We immediately secured the driver with the initials AA, 21 years old, after two hours the video went viral on Bukittinggi social media", said Head of Traffic Center for the Bukittinggi Police, AKP Andri Nugroho, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 7.
The perpetrator AA is located in Nagari Ampang Gadang, Agam Regency, and admits his mistake.
The perpetrator was not detained, but was given a four-article ticket and made a statement that he did not repeat his actions.
"Each of the articles by Law Number 22 the Year 2009 is Article 286 concerning violations of used exhaust, Article 280 concerning police numbers, Article 283 concerning improper driving and Article 311 concerning the safety of others", said Head of Traffic Police.
According to the perpetrator's statement, he often carried out these actions outside the region and only once in the city of Bukittinggi.
"The perpetrator acted as returning from the workshop, then gathered with his friends on Sudirman Street and was determined to act", said Andri.
The drifting action was recorded by a friend and later went viral in the City of Bukittinggi.
The police hope that other incidents and actions will not be repeated in Bukittinggi.
"We ask motorists, especially young people in Bukittinggi to always obey the rules, do not disturb the public, let alone threaten lives", said Andri.
The city of Bukittinggi is always busy with automotive activists on holidays from late afternoon to midnight.
Usually, several motorbike clubs or car clubs often gather along Sudirman Street, Bukittinggi City.
