Sigi Police Unload Synthetic Tobacco Circulation, 2 Perpetrators Still Students

SIGI - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Sigi Resort Police, Central Sulawesi, revealed a case of narcotics trafficking of synthetic tobacco weighing 623.19 grams which was controlled from a house in Tinggede Village, Marawola District, Sigi Regency.

Sigi Police Chief AKBP Kari Amsah Ritonga said three people were arrested in the raid, each with the initials MF (20), MA (18), and AR (23).

"In addition to the three suspects, we also confiscated evidence in the form of 623.19 grams of synthetic tobacco and three bottles of narcotics containing MDMB-4en-PINACA weighing 11 milliliters," Kuri told reporters in Dolo, Antara, Wednesday, July 30.

According to the perpetrators' confessions, the synthetic tobacco was obtained by ordering it through social media by MF. Meanwhile, MA and AR act as dealers in the Sigi Regency area.

The police chief added that two of the three suspects were known to be still students.

Their target market is young people in Sigi. This is very worrying," he said.

This case is referred to as the first to be revealed in the Sigi Regency area. "Over the last three months they have carried out this narcotics trafficking activity secretly," said Kari.

He explained that the synthetic tobacco was packaged in small sizes weighing 0.05 grams, with a total of 1,247 packages sold for IDR 50,000 per package.

"If it is calculated as a whole, the selling value can reach around Rp. 62 million," he said.

The three perpetrators were charged with the threat of life imprisonment or a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years, according to Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
