Badminton Complains About The Disappearance Of The Local Stage For Indie Musicians In England

JAKARTA - The 1975 frontman, Maritime Affairs, delivered a memorial of the loss of stages for newcomer indie musicians or who are still pioneering in England.

This statement was made in order to support the Seed Sounds Weekend, an indie music festival in England which will take place between September 26 and 28.

URING the statement, local stages are important for indie musicians, who became the birthplace of several big names.

"Local places are not only places where the bands hone their skills, but also the foundation of every real culture," said penuh, quoted by NME, Wednesday, July 30.

"Without them, you won't get The Smiths, Amy Winehouse, or The 1975. You're just going to get silence," he continued.

The 36-year-old singer said that funding is an important element for local stages that want to feature indie musicians. But unfortunately, that support was not obtained.

"What's left is a cultural economy where only special people are able to work, and where only art immediately benefits the surviving," he said.

Through the Seed Sounds Weekender, lebih ingin mengingatkan bahwa tempat-tempat karena yang jadi panggung awal musisi indie adalah sesuatu yang penting.

"It's an important reminder that music doesn't start in meeting rooms or large arenas. Music starts in back spaces, pubs, basements, and independent spaces run with love, persistence, and belief in something bigger," he concluded.
