Pertamina Collaborates With French Verso Energy To Develop Synthetic Fuel
JAKARTA - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and French energy company Verso Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the development of clean energy solutions and decarbonization.
Pertamina NRE CEO, John Anis, said that this collaboration concretely targets the development of synthetic fuels or green hydrogen-based synthetic fuel/e-fuels with biogenic CO2.
"France has technological advantages in the development of synthetic fuel, while Indonesia has great potential for its broad implementation," he said, quoted Wednesday, July 30.
According to him, the need for e-fuels, especially e-SAFs or electro Sustainable Aviation Fuel, is expected to increase significantly in the next few years, especially in the aviation sector.

"Therefore, this collaboration is not only technical, but also strategic in terms of investment and technology transfer," he continued.
The MoU also includes a cross-investment scheme, enabling Pertamina NRE to invest in clean energy projects developed by Verso Energy in France, and vice versa, opening up investment opportunities for French partners in Indonesia.
"This scheme supports the management of global portfolios and accelerates the adoption of cutting-edge technology in both countries," he said.
