Kiosk Burns, Adidas Shoe Trader At Taman Puring Market Claims To Lose IDR 500 Million
JAKARTA - Mirza (35), a shoe trader at Taman Puring Market, South Jakarta, still looks fixated on looking at the rubble of his kiosk, which now lives on charcoal. He swallowed a bitter pill after all his merchandise was sold out by fire in a great fire that broke out on Monday night, July 28, 2025.
"When I was informed about half past seven at night, I immediately came here. But when I arrived, the fire was already big, everything was already on fire. It couldn't be saved," Mirza said when met at the location, Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2025.
As a trader who has occupied two kiosks at Taman Puring Market since 2010, Mirza said the losses due to the fire this time were very large. He estimates that the loss value will reach Rp. 500 million, mostly in the form of sads and branded sneakers such as Adidas.
"My kiosk is two, the position is close together. Everything is burned down, it's just a remnant, like some of Adidas' shoes that didn't have time to catch fire, "he said while pointing to the rest of the scattered items.
According to him, there was no time to save goods because at the time of the incident, all shops were closed and locked. The fire was known to have spread widely when traders arrived at the location.

This is not the first time a fire has been started, but the worst one is now. Previously, there was also a fire, but there was still time to evacuate some of the goods from the next store. Now, nothing can be saved," said the man who has been selling in the area for 15 years.
Mirza has not received any information regarding the possibility of relocation or solutions from market and government managers. He hopes that the burning kiosks can be rebuilt soon, so that traders do not lose their livelihoods and customers can still return.
If it is moved to another place, to be honest, we have difficulty. This place is already known to people, customers are also used to shopping here. If you have to start from scratch in a new place, it's really difficult," he said.
Mirza hopes that the government, especially the Governor of DKI Jakarta, will listen to the voices of the affected traders.
"Hopefully this place can be built again, so that we can start business again. Don't let us lose everything, not just goods, but also customers," he said.
