"Ozzy is more than just a music legend he is Birmingham's son. Having recently been awarded Freedom Of The City and his lively performance at the 'Back To The Beginning' concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it is important for the city to support its appropriate and dignified respect ahead of private family funerals," he said.

"We know how meaningful this moment is for his fans. We are proud to hold it here with his beloved family, where it all started, and we are grateful for the generosity of those who have been generous in paying for it so that this can be done and support this city to give a proper farewell," said the mayor.
