Export Value Of National Sports Clothing Reaches IDR 7.8 Trillion, Minister Of Industry Agus: Still Small

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the export value of national sports clothing throughout 2024 reached 480 million US dollars or around Rp. 7.8 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 16,400).

Agus said the main market for exporting national sports clothes still dominates the United States (US). Exports of sports clothes include technical t-shirts, jackets and pants made from dry-fit and polyester performance.

"Based on data from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN Comtrade) and BPS, exports of sports clothes from Indonesia flow to key markets, such as the United States, Japan, Germany and South Korea," Agus said at the opening of the Merdeka Fest 2025 Exhibition entitled "Healthy Life with Local Products" at the Plaza Industri of the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 29.

According to Agus, the export value is still small and needs to be increased again. "It's still small, but the trend is rising even though it's under global economic pressure," he said.

In addition to exports, Agus said domestic demand also increased significantly. This is driven by the growth of the national sports clothing market and accelerated by the high participation of the community in fitness, marathon, bicycle and other recreational sports activities.

Research from Statista Market Insights (2024) projects that the value of the sportswear (sports) market in Indonesia can grow with the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 7-8 percent/year until 2027, especially in the athleity segment and technology-based clothing (moisture-wicking, UV protection).

"Not only that, several local brands, such as Erigo Active, Shining Bright, Evos Gear to Eiger Sportwear began to enter the premium segment and showed promising performance, both through retail channels and e-commerce," he concluded.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) through the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) held the 2025 Merdeka Fest Exhibition entitled "Healthy Living With Local Products" on 29 July-1 August 2025 at the Plaza Industri of the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta.

Agus said that the Merdeka Fest Exhibition is a series of events to welcome the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17 as well as an event to introduce superior domestic IKM products.

"The Merdeka Fest exhibition is not just a place to promote superior domestic IKM products, but has developed into a strategic platform that unites the spirit of nationalism, industrial innovation and a healthy lifestyle," he said.

He believes, with the strong support of all resources and facilitation provided by technical units under the Ministry of Industry, the application of advanced technology in the IKM production process will be more widespread and accelerated intensively.

"Through this exhibition, we not only celebrate the independence of the nation, but also display the potential of the national industry in various sectors," he explained.
