TANGERANG - Tangerang City Police, Banten Police, named four base motorcycle taxi drivers as suspects in the case of ambush and forced reduction of online taxi passengers in the Tigaraksa Station Area, Solear, Tangerang Regency.

The four drivers of the base motorcycle taxi (opang) who became suspects had the initials A, N, J and JU. They are suspected of violating Article 170 and Article 335 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of five years in prison.

"These four opang people are reported to be related to alleged criminal acts of anyone who in public together threatens violence against people and or commits unpleasant actions in Articles 170 and 335 of the Criminal Code," explained Tangerang Police Chief Commissioner Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah at a press conference in Tangerang, Antara, Tuesday, July 29.

He explained that the determination of four opangs was based on the results of investigations and investigations from the handling of cases reported by victims of online taxi ambushes with the initials IA.

"We have examined as many as eight witnesses, namely from the security side with the initials HS, SN eyewitnesses, DS online taxi drivers, and IA and SM as taxi passengers," he said.

Thus, the four suspects who have been detained at the Cisoka Police have undergone further investigation.

Indra said that the chronology of the handling of this case began with a viral video on social media showing the ambush of taxi vehicles from g in the Tigaraksa Station Area on Friday (25/7).

At that time, at around 14.30 WIB, passengers as victims with the initials IA (husband) and SM (wife) and a 6-month-old baby were about to go to Perum Puri Delta in Cikasungka Village, Solear District.

"From their house in Pinang District, Tangerang City, they went to Rawa Buntu Station to use the KRL transportation mode to Tigaraksa Station," he said.

When they arrived at Tigaraksa Station, due to the heavy rain situation, they then ordered an online taxi to pick them up to the location.

"They immediately took the online taxi. However, suddenly a man they didn't know came, who was suspected of being the driver of the base motorcycle taxi (opang). The man immediately asked them to get out of the car," he explained.

Previously, the victim IA had tried to ask for understanding from the base motorcycle taxi drivers to be given permission to use online taxi services because they were carrying a baby.

"However, this opang still does not allow online taxis to continue their journey on the grounds that online taxis are not allowed to enter the station area which is claimed to be places or areas of operation," he said.

Indra also mentioned that the role played in the actions of the four opangs was by optimizing and threatening violence. In fact, one of the suspects with the initials A brought goods in the form of light brick to intimidate.

"The three identical opang who also forcibly opened the car door. Another Opang forced the victim who was carrying the baby to get off," he explained.

The police chief added that as handling disputes between base motorcycle taxis and online taxis, his party together with the local government will soon provide the best solution for them. One of them is by issuing regulations or regulations regarding the regional zones of the two types of transportation.

"We have a coordination meeting with the regional government regarding regional recommendations, both between base and online motorcycle taxis," he said.

In addition, in the near future all motorcycle taxi groups from the base and online will be invited to carry out peaceful demonstrations as a sign to restore the conducive situation of the region.

"I initiated that I was indeed looking for the best solution between friends from the base and online motorcycle taxis so that there would be a breakdown. Do not let this dispute between passengers," he said.
