Jenna Ortega Happy To Play Wednesday, Thanks To Tim Burton

JAKARTA - Jenna Ortega will return to play the character Wednesday in the latest season of the series of the same name. This series marks his latest collaboration with director Tim Burton and brings the two together.

Talking about her character, Ortega admitted that she admired the role of Wednesday. Not only costumes and iconic appearances, but the 22-year-old actress also has a complex character.

I (like) her strength and confidence. I think, often, when choosing a character, you will discuss about her character about what makes them ashamed and feel insecure and what is the painful side they hate to admit. Wednesday doesn't have all that and she is firm," said Jenna Ortega in an interview session on Sunday, July 28 local time.

"He's a bit demanding everything around him and the qualities he has. I feel like there are certain things, even when I'm looking for, kind of knowing, okay, either, how he's standing or how he's carrying himself, or how, very, very clearly when something doesn't fit for him or doesn't fit for him, I'm starting to lose character," he explained.

As one of Tim Burton's new collaborators, Jenna Ortega feels the director knows what he wants from each player. The two of them worked together to explore the best side of Wednesday's character.

There's a lot to study because I'm new, but what I like about working with the Team is that nothing is prepared from day to day. Entering the location, letting him see from various perspectives and every day it's something new, "said Jenna again.

I think it's easy for a series to look formulaic with the same routine but sometimes the Team wants to set it up a lot and sometimes it wants to put it together. Sometimes he is fixated on the script, sometimes he puts it together from one dialogue and it's very interesting," he said.

Tim Burton added, "I remember on the first day, the first season, Jenna arrived before anyone else, watching everything so she knew more than I knew and that's the beauty side," Tim Burton said.

Even though they have a script, all characters have the ability to develop the side of the character which is a surprise for the director.

"Everyone knows their character, they surprise me and I think I like making it like a movie," he said.

The second season of the Wednesday series will air in two parts: the first part release on August 6 and the second part on September 3 on Netflix.
