Ministry Of Religion: 447 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Died In The Holy Land, 3 Still Missing
The Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah (Directorate General of PHU) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) recorded as many as 447 Indonesian Hajjes died in the holy land during the implementation of the Hajj 1446 H/2025 AD.
Although the number is relatively high, this figure has decreased compared to the previous year which recorded 461 people died. In addition, the Ministry of Religion also reported that there were still 25 hajjes being treated in Saudi Arabia and three people were declared missing to date.
"They will all continue to receive assistance from the Indonesian Embassy's Hajj Affairs Office in Jeddah," said Director General of PHU Hilman Latief, during a national working meeting to evaluate the implementation of the 2025 Hajj at Atria Hotel Gading Serpong, Tuesday, July 29.
Regarding the three Hajj candidates who are still missing, the Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar explained that the loss of pilgrims is not new. Generally, they are elderly people who experience dementia, namely a decrease in cognitive function which causes them to forget their identity and family.
