East-West Seed Indonesia Wins Three Awards At The Same Time At SPEx2 2025

JAKARTA - Hybrid vegetable seed producer Cap Panasan Merah PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO) won three awards at once at the SPEx2 (Strategy into Performance Execution) Award 2025, a prestigious award held by GML Performance Consulting in collaboration with Kontan Business & Investment Media.

The three awards that have been won this year are The Best Executive Winner in Agriculture Industry, The Best Chief Strategy Execution Officer across All Industries which was given to Managing Director EWINDO, Glenn Pardede, and Special Recognition: Excellence in Product Innovation for Social Impact.

This achievement is proof of EWINDO's commitment to transforming strategies into real executions, encouraging innovation that has a broad impact, and presenting future transformative and oriented leadership.

One of the main highlights of this year's SPEx2 event is the Excellence in Product Innovation for Social Impact award, which is specifically given to the company for its success in developing products that have a broad social impact. EWINDO as a leading horticultural seed company is recognized not only to increase agricultural productivity, but also to have a direct impact on the welfare of small farmers and national food security.

The innovations developed by the company focus on developing vegetable varieties that produce high quality and quantity, resilient to climate change and disease resistant, have a shorter harvest period and suit market preferences. This allows horticultural farmers, including small-scale farmers in remote areas, to increase their income.

The success of Marten Luther Norotouw is one example. In Waibron Traditional Village, Jayapura Regency, Marten when he was first accompanied by field officers EWINDO planted shallots from seeds (True Shallot Seed/TSS) on an area of 500 m2. The first harvest resulted in an income of around Rp. 30 million. This success not only improving its economic condition, but also motivated it to expand the land to 2,000 m2 private property which is now functioned as a pilot land (Learning Farm) as an open learning ground for other farmers in the vicinity.

On this land, Marten together with farmer group Pelita Jaya Makmur manages pilot plantations and manages to harvest 100 kg of TSS shallots. This harvest is exhibited in a low-cost market title organized by the local government and is an important milestone: for the first time, native Papuan farmers managed to grow and market shallots from seeds independently. Not only shallots, this farmer group also managed to plant purple corn from the JANTAN F1 variety and the yellow watermelon variety DEWANGGA F1.

In addition to developing quality products, the company's approach to innovation also includes education and community empowerment. Through live mentoring programs in the field, sustainable cultivation training, and data-based technology support, the company has built an inclusive agricultural ecosystem that places farmers as strategic partners, not just as product users. EWINDO currently partners with 29,000 production farmers supported by 35,000 polynatists, most of whom are women, and the Red Arrow Cap seeds have helped around 7 million horticultural farmers throughout Indonesia.

"We are very grateful for this award. Our strategy is always rooted in one of our main values of being the best friend for Indonesian farmers. Every step we take is driven by their needs, and we continue to innovate to present superior products that provide real changes in their lives," said Managing Director of EWINDO, Glenn Pardede.

The highest recognition was also given to Glenn Pardede as The Best Chief Strategy Execution Officer across All Industries. This award shows the quality of leadership that has succeeded in bridging the company's strategic vision with concrete, measurable, and sustainable executions of an achievement that is not only relevant in the agribusiness industry, but also beyond sector limits.

under his leadership, EWINDO, which has been active for 35 years in Indonesia, underwent a comprehensive transformation that not only targets financial growth, but also social and environmental sustainability. With an adaptive organizational data and culture-based approach, he encourages cross-functional synergies and strengthens strategic partnerships with the government, academics, farmers to international partners.

As The Best Executive Winner in Agriculture Industry, the company shows how a directed strategy can produce concrete impacts in sectors that are very vital but full of challenges such as agriculture. The transformation process includes the development of R&D facilities that support the breeding of adaptive horticultural plant varieties for tropical climates, strengthening distribution systems, and the efficiency of supply chains. This success not only increases the productivity and competitiveness of the company, but also strengthens its contribution in creating national food security.

The SPEx2 Award is a prestigious annual award given to companies and business leaders in Indonesia that are able to translate strategies into superior performance consistently. The selection process was carried out strictly by GML Performance Consulting - a well-known management consulting institution known for its credibility and analytics-based approach - with the Kontan Business & Investment Media team.

This award is the collective achievement of our entire team and farmer partners throughout Indonesia. However, this is not the end of the journey. In fact, this is the beginning of a greater responsibility. This is a motivation for us to continue to produce seeds that are not only technically superior, but also as a solution that honors the role of farmers as the frontline of the nation's food security and affirms that we are the best farmers' friends," concluded Glenn Pardede.
