Hajj Authority Immediately Switches, Ministry Of Religion Focuses On Strengthening Religious Services
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar emphasized that the Ministry of Religion is ready to focus on taking care of non-hajj duties when the transfer of authority to the Hajj Organization Agency (BP Hajj) is complete.
"Of course (the transfer of authority to Hajj management) has a lesson. The Ministry of Religion can concentrate more on other matters," said Nasaruddin Umar at the 2025 Hajj Evaluation Working Meeting in Tangerang, Monday, July 28.
The Ministry of Religion expressed its readiness to fully hand over the authority to administer the Hajj pilgrimage to BP Hajj which was formed by the President, in line with regulations being prepared by the government.
According to him, if the laws and regulations have been desired, it is mandatory for the Ministry of Religion to fully hand over the implementation of the pilgrimage to BP Haji.
"We will continue to support and help BP Haji, because this concerns the people," said the Minister of Religion.
He said that this transfer of authority actually brings its own wisdom to the Ministry of Religion because it can concentrate more on various other religious tasks that are no less important.
"We have many directorate generals, such as Islamic Education, Islamic Guidance, Christians, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhists, Litbang, and Inspector General. All of this requires full concentration," he said.
Nasaruddin highlighted, especially in the development of Islamic boarding schools and universities, that there are many strategic jobs that require the attention of the ministry.
"With the formation of a hajj institution, the Ministry of Religion's energy can be more solid in managing what is currently there," he said.

He is also optimistic that the implementation of the pilgrimage in the future will be better and more professional under the management of BPH.
"Hopefully the implementation of the pilgrimage will be in the future, God willing, as discussed together, the service will be better for the congregation," he said.
