Young Women Become Victims Of Verbal Harassment By Transportation Agency Personnel At Palmerah Market

JAKARTA - A young woman with the initials NP (24) became a victim of verbal abuse allegedly committed by two officers from the Transportation Service (Dishub) in the Palmerah Market area, Central Jakarta.

The verbal abuse incident occurred when the NP victim walked to his office on July 14, 2025, at around 08.45 WIB. The NP who worked at a company near the scene claimed to be the target of indecent gazes and comments that made him uncomfortable.

"When I passed, I saw two Dishub officers standing behind the car. They looked at my chest from afar until I passed. After that, I heard one of them saying 'wuihhh' with a laugh with his friend," said the victim when confirmed, Monday, July 28, 2025.

Feeling disapproved, NP immediately reported the incident to the official Instagram account of the Jakarta Transportation Agency.

Initially, the report received a response from the admin, but communication was stopped on July 15, 2025.

"After that, there will be no further follow-up," he said.

NP admitted that he had tried to forget about the incident, but trauma was still imprinted. In fact, his sleep was disturbed and his concentration of work decreased.

The trauma re-emerged when he returned to meet the officer suspected of being the perpetrator, at the same location, Monday, July 28, morning.

"As soon as I saw his face again, I immediately tremored. It's hard to focus. It's really annoying," said NP.

Responding to the report, the Head of the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency, Wildan Anwar, confirmed that his party was following up on the complaint by conducting an internal examination.

"The officer suspected of being involved is being investigated. The examination is carried out objectively," he said via text message.

NP hopes that Dishub people who are suspected of committing harassment can be given strict sanctions.

"I just want justice. So that women can feel safe on the road," he said.
