Crypto Transactions Rise Sharply, Upbit Indonesia Affirms The Importance Of User Security

JAKARTA - Along with the increasing interest and adoption of digital assets in Indonesia, Upbit Indonesia urges the public to remain vigilant and equip themselves with the right information so as not to get caught up in various forms of crypto fraud. Based on data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the value of crypto transactions in Indonesia in May 2025 reached IDR 49.57 trillion, reflecting public enthusiasm that continues to grow towards digital assets. However, this increase was also followed by the emergence of various modes of fraud such as phishing, fraudulent investment applications, to impersonating efforts that harm the public.

Upbit Indonesia's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Resna Raniadi, said that increasing user literacy and awareness is the main key to keeping the crypto ecosystem healthy.

"We see the growth of the crypto market as a great opportunity for Indonesia's digital economy. However, this growth must be accompanied by strong education so that people can participate safely and responsibly," said Resna, in a written statement, Monday, July 28.

Upbit Indonesia identifies some of the most common forms of fraud, including phishing which lures users to click on fake links and steal personal data, illegal investment applications that promise fantastic profits but eventually take user funds away, to fraud by posing as trusted parties.

To avoid these things, users are advised to always use platforms that have been registered and officially supervised by the Financial Services Authority, such as Upbit Indonesia, so that transactions are carried out in a supervised ecosystem. Make sure not to easily believe messages or telephones on behalf of certain parties, especially if you ask for personal data, passwords, or OTP code This has never been done by the official Upbit.

It is also important to do independent research (DYOR) before investing in certain crypto assets or projects, and do not be easily tempted by the promise of fast profits. In addition, users are advised to activate additional security features such as two-factor authentication (2FA) and update passwords regularly.
