Twitter Blocks Accounts Sharing Donald Trump's Social Media Posts
JAKARTA - Twitter Inc has suspended a number of accounts that share uploads from the website of former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump. Given that Trump himself has been blocked from Twitter.
"As stated in our no-circumvention policy, we will take steps against accounts with a clear intention of replacing or promoting content affiliated with suspended accounts," a Twitter spokeswoman said, quoted by Reuters, Friday, May 7.
Trump has been blocked from Twitter since the riots in the Capitol on January 6, sparked by supporters of Trump, then president. He created the site "From the Desk of Donald J. Trump", where internet users can share Trump uploads to Facebook and Twitter.
Twitter allows users to share content from Trump's page as long as it doesn't violate their policies.
Trump representatives said they had no relationship with the suspended accounts, namely @DJTDesk, @DJTrumpDesk, @DeskofDJT and @ DesOfTrump1.
Trump's Twitter block is permanent, even if he runs again.
Facebook's supervisory board recently proceeded to block Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts, however, argues the ban should not be indefinite.
