Build A Communal Septic Tank In East Jakarta, Pramono: Goods Defecation Is Still A Serious Problem

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the groundbreaking of the integrated communal septic tank technology at the Bidara Cina Rusunami, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

Pramono said, this septic tank was built as a sanitary service for residents. Because, until now, there are still many Jakartans who defecate carelessly (BABS).

"The issue of defecating carelessly is still a serious concern of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Even though the numbers are relatively low compared to other regions, we remain committed to resolving this issue," said Pramono, Monday, July 28.

Pramono explained that the sanitation program is not only infrastructure development, but also includes changes in people's behavior. The hope is that through this program, residents will no longer practice defecation carelessly.

Pramono targets that all Jakarta residents have access to proper and safe sanitation. Through the construction of biogas-based communal septic tanks, he hopes that the BABS problem can be resolved while creating environmentally friendly energy.

"Sanitasi memang bersifat pribadi, tetapi karena kami terus berkomunikasi dengan masyarakat, RW, dan wali kota, maka persoalan seperti ini harus segera diselesaikan. Saya minta Wali Kota melaporkan dan memastikan penanganannya, terutama di wilayah darumah penduduk, agar benar-benar tuntas," jelasnya.

Continuing, the Mayor of East Jakarta, Munjirin, explained that currently there are 10 points built for septic tanks in his area, ranging from Rawabunga, Kampung Rambutan, Pekayon, Pinang Ranti, Cipinang Melayu, Penggilingan, Kayu Manis, Cipinang, to Klender.

"Sari 10 points can eradicate 921 families, the soul is 2,936 people. Some of these models use biogas, some use communal but private safety tanks. Those are also assisted by CSR. Some are self-help, some are communal," said Munjirin.
