KAI Fertilizer Transport Volume Reaches 13,230 Tons Until June 2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded a positive performance in fertilizer logistics transportation. During January to June 2025, KAI has distributed 13,230 tons of fertilizer to various agricultural centers in the country.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said this figure grew 21 percent compared to the same period last year, which was 10,890 tons.

Anne said the distribution of fertilizers is not just a logistical activity, but also an important part of maintaining national food balance. Behind each carriage that advances, there is hope that farmers, land fertility, and the future of Indonesian agriculture.

The service of fertilizer transportation is KAI's direct contribution to helping farmers' lands remain fertile. Reliable logistics means guaranteed food," he said in an official statement, Monday, July 28.

Anne said that with advantages in timeliness, operational stability, and large capacity, trains are strategic partners for the government and fertilizer producers. Rail mode allows efficient large-scale shipments, especially towards agricultural areas that are not always easily accessible to ordinary land transportation.

"KAI is here to drive an efficient national logistics ecosystem, to support food self-sufficiency that is more resilient in the future," said Anne.

Not only fast and stable, continued Anne, rail-based logistics transportation is also more environmentally friendly. The use of trains helps reduce carbon emissions, in line with the government's efforts towards Net Zero Emission 2060.
