Viral 7.4 Million West Java Residents Data Leaked On Dark Web: Provincial Government Opens Voice
BANDUNG The Regional Government of West Java Province confirmed that information related to the alleged leak of West Java residents' personal data claimed by an anonymous account on social media X did not match the facts.
Head of the West Java Communications and Information Office (Diskominfo), Adi Komar, said that this clarification was in response to an account called DigitalGhostt, which claimed to have leaked personal data of around 7.4 million residents of West Java on the Darkforums website.
"Based on the results of our search and validation, we ensure that claims regarding data leakage managed by the West Java Provincial Government are not true," said Adi Komar in Bandung, Sunday, July 27.
Adi emphasized that the West Java Provincial Government remains committed to maintaining the security of government data and public personal data. These efforts are carried out through strengthening information security technology, coordinating with relevant agencies, and increasing awareness of apparatus on the importance of personal data protection and government strategic data.
"We continue to strengthen the information security system in order to respond to various potential digital threats, including issues that do not necessarily have a valid basis as currently circulating," he said.

The West Java Provincial Government also appealed to the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked by information whose truth and source are not yet clear.
"We invite the public to respond wisely to information on social media. If there are doubts, immediately confirm them with the competent authorities," he concluded.
