Report Card Fajar/Fikri: 2 Tournaments Can Immediately Hold

JAKARTA Men's doubles Fajar Alfian/ Muhammad Shohibul Fikri immediately managed to secure one title in their second appearance as a couple at the BWF World Tour tournament.

The title is the prestigious event Super 1000 BWF China Open 2025, which will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center.

The couple took home the trophy from the tournament after beating men's doubles Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik from Malaysia. They locked the win in straight games 21-15 and 21-14.

On the way to the highest podium, Fajar/Fikri recorded a crushing of four seeded. In addition, all the matches they played in China never ended in the rubber game.

Fajar/Fikri started their journey in China with a victory over Malaysia's unseeded CHOng Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal.

After that, they consecutively beat Sabar Karyaman/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi (seeded seventh), Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae (third seed), Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang ( fifth seed), and Aaron/Soh (second lead).

The names that were defeated were consistent this year, especially Kim/Seo, who recorded winning three other Super 1000 tournaments this year, namely at the Malaysia Open, All England, and Indonesia Open 2025.

Fajar/Fikri previously made their debut at the BWF World Tour event at the Japan Open 2025 last week. At that time, they managed to reach the quarter-finals and narrowly lost 13-21, 21-17, and 20-22 from the first seed of Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin at that stage.

The results in China are considered impressive considering that Fajar/Fikri have been temporarily paired since June 2025 because Muhammad Rian Ardianto has been sidelined for family affairs and Daniel Marthin is still injured.

In addition, the results obtained by Fajar/Fikri allowed Indonesia to burst eggs in the Super 500 BWF level tournament and above after previously only securing two trophies in Super 300 BWF.
