Ojek Driver Hacked By OTK In Deiyai Papua, Police Investigate Alleged KKB Involvement

JAYAPURA A motorcycle taxi driver named Aris Munandar (28) became a victim of stabbing by an unknown person (OTK) in Pasar Baru Waghete II area, Tigi District, Deiyai Regency, Central Papua, last Saturday.

The victim was carrying passengers before being attacked using sharp weapons by the alleged perpetrator, totaling three people.

Aris suffered lacerations to his shoulders and right hands, and is currently being treated intensively at the Paniai District Hospital.

"We strongly condemn the violence against civilians. Currently, our team together with elements of the TNI have moved to the scene and hospitals to ensure that the handling of victims is going well," said Head of Damai Cartenz Operations Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani in a written statement received in Manokwari, Antara, Sunday, July 27.

Faizal stated that an investigation is being carried out to reveal the perpetrators of the stabbing. The investigation team is also investigating the possibility of the involvement of an armed criminal group (KKB) in this incident.

Based on witness testimony, Aris was seen escorting female passengers. Not long after, he returned seriously injured and fell in front of a resident's stall.

Residents who saw directly evacuated Aris to the Waghete II Hospital before finally being referred to the Paniai Hospital for further treatment.

"We will take law enforcement steps professionally and measurably," said Faizal.

The police suspect that there are three perpetrators and riding on motorbikes. Until now, their identities have not been disclosed and are still being searched by the joint apparatus.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cartenz Peaceful Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by this incident.

The joint team will increase patrols and security in the Deiyai area. We will also continue to oversee the recovery of victims. We invite the community to keep the situation conducive and report if they have information regarding the perpetrators," said Yusuf.
