South Kalimantan Police Responsible For Deadly Accident Involves K-9 Patrol Car
BANJARBARU South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) stated that they were responsible for a fatal accident involving a K-9 Unit patrol car from the Samapta Directorate. The incident killed a motorcyclist with the initials MIR, a SMK student from Gambit, Banjar Regency.
"We have met with the victim's family as a form of responsibility for the incident that happened to the victim and Polda personnel as well as conveying our condolences," said Head of Public Relations of the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Adam Erwindi in Banjarbaru, Antara, Sunday, July 27.
He explained that the accident occurred when the K-9 Unit patrol car carrying four police officers was on their way to the church sterilization security location in Banjarmasin, Sunday morning.
The official car drove from the direction of Banjarbaru to Banjarmasin. However, while crossing Jalan Ahmad Yani Kilometer 21, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru, a motorcycle driven by the victim changed lanes suddenly from left to right to turn at the u-turn.
"The victim did not turn on the light when he was about to turn. The K-9 car that came from behind did not have time to avoid it, resulting in a collision. The victim died on the spot," said Adam.
Adam emphasized that if an element of negligence or violation is found in the examination by members, the South Kalimantan Police will take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations.

From the family's statement, it is known that the victim is still in the stage of learning to ride a motorcycle and does not yet have a driving license (SIM). At the time of the incident, the victim also did not wear a helmet. The accident site is only about 100 meters from the victim's house.
