Menkomdigi Asks Campus To Be The Front Guard To Print Digital Talents

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid asked universities to be at the forefront of producing ethically strong digital talents and ready to face an artificial intelligence (AI) period.

"We want AI and other advanced technologies not only to be controlled by big countries, but also to be a tool created by the nation's children. Therefore, we invite campuses to move together," said Meutya in an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

At the peak of the 13th Dies Natalis of the Business and Informatics Institute (IBI) Kosgoro 1957 in Jakarta, Friday (25/7), Meutya said universities must equip students with basic digital skills to expertise in the AI sector.

This is because the development of digital human resources is now a priority after the massive completion of digital infrastructure in recent years.

"After the network and infrastructure are almost complete, it's time for us to move our focus on human development. Digital transformation will be meaningless without capable human resources and ready to face the challenges of the times," he said.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital is taking a collaborative approach by involving universities through digital skills training programs, strengthening digital literacy among students, as well as developing expertise in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI).

One of these collaborations was realized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and the Secretary-General of PPK Kosgoro 1957 and MoA between the Head of BPSDM Komdigi and the Chancellor of IBI Kosgoro 1957.

"Today the Ministry of Communication and Digital conducts a collaboration with IBI Kosgoro 1957 to not only build its infrastructure but to build its human beings," he said.

Partnerships with educational institutions are seen as the key in creating digital generations that are not only technically smart but also socially responsible.

"The state cannot work alone. We need the role of campuses and students to jointly create a safe and efficient digital space," said Meutya.
