Joint SAR For The Evacuation Of Lost Climbers On Mount Soputan, North Sulawesi

MANADO - The Joint SAR Team evacuated a climber, Dendi (27 years), a resident of Lembah Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, who was reportedly lost on Mount Soputan, Southeast Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Sunday.

Public Relations of the Manado SAR Office, Nuriadin Gumeleng, said that the incident was reported by his colleague, Ardi Wentuk, on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 22.30 WITA.

"In response to the report, the Amurang SAR Post immediately dispatched a rescue team to the location at 22.55 WITA and arrived at the foot of Mount Soputan on July 26, 2025 at 00.20 WITA," said Nuriadin in Manado, Saturday.

The joint SAR team then conducted a sweep to the last point where the victim communicated. The search effort paid off at 04.50 WITA, where the victim was found weak due to running out of logistics.

The victim was then evacuated to the Tumaratas Health Center, Southeast Minahasa Regency, for further medical examination before being handed over to the family at 07.30 WITA.

"The SAR operation was officially closed at 07.40 WITA and all SAR elements were returned to their respective units," he said.

The elements participating in the SAR operation are the Manado Search and Rescue Office, Amurang SAR Post, RAPI, Nature Lovers Group, and the community.

Head of Manado Search and Rescue Office George LM Randang expressed his appreciation for the synergy and speed of the joint team in responding to this situation.

"The safety of victims is our top priority and this success is the result of the cooperation of all elements involved," he said.
