Lamban Bureaucratic, Accident Victim In Cijantung Dies Before Receiving Handling
JAKARTA - A man with the initials FP died after a traffic accident in the Cijantung area, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Tuesday, July 22, 2025 morning. The family regretted the slow pace of the bureaucratic process that hampered medical treatment of the FP, which at that time was in critical condition.
Based on ANTARA's report, Friday, July 25, 2025, the victim's wife, WDY, revealed that after the accident, her husband was immediately rushed to the Kesdam Jaya Cijantung Hospital. However, the hospital does not have the facilities or authority to handle serious injuries experienced by FP. He was immediately referred to Pasar Rebo Hospital.
Unfortunately, upon arrival at Pasar Rebo Hospital, medical treatment of the FP was again delayed because the hospital needed an accident certificate from the Police and verification from Jasa Raharja.
"They said they needed a letter from the police and Jasa Raharja first, even though my husband's condition was already critical," said WDY, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, July 25, 2025.
Without wasting time, WDY went straight to the Laka Lalu Unit in Kebon Nanas, Jatinegara, at around 08.00 WIB. However, the process of making the letter took a very long time. The police had questioned the driver's license belonging to the missing victim and vehicle registration which turned out to be taxed.
At around 11.00 WIB, the vehicle used by the victim finally arrived at the police station. Instead of immediately processing the certificate, officers only started making documents after the arrival of the motorbike, and the process was slow again.
"I had hoped when the motorbike was ready, but in fact I had to wait again until 13.00 before finished," said WDY in a disappointed tone.
As a result of the delay, FP was declared dead at the Pasar Rebo Hospital at around 14.00 WIB before receiving a thorough medical action.

WDY emphasized that if administrative procedures can be simplified and run quickly in an emergency, her husband's life may be saved. He assessed that a rigid and complicated bureaucracy actually worsened the condition of the accident victim.
Responding to this, the Head of Traffic Unit of the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Darwis Yunarta, expressed his condolences to the family. He admitted that in an emergency situation, there should be leniency in document processing.
If the victim's condition is critical, the evidence can actually be sent more flexibly and the letter can be made immediately. But often, Jasa Raharja's validation makes it difficult because it concerns vehicle taxes," said Darwis.
He added that in an emergency situation, his party usually immediately makes a certificate even though the documents are not complete. Darwis also apologized if there was a delay in the process. We will evaluate, and I will also re-check the chronology of this accident," he said.
This case highlights the need for reform of bureaucratic procedures in handling traffic accidents, so that no more lives will be lost just because the documents have not been completed.
