China Open 2025: Gregoria Runs Aground In Quarter Finals
JAKARTA The journey of the women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung at the 2025 China Open stopped in the quarter-finals after she lost against the host's fourth seed, Han Yue.
Gregoria had to bury her dream deeply in a Super 1000 BWF level event after a two-game battle that ended in 21-19 and 21-18 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium on Friday, July 25, 2025.
After various two points at the start of the first game, Gregoria had lost four points of momentum and missed. He then equalized the score 6-6 and fell behind just one point in the interval.

Pursuits still had time before Han Yue scored five consecutive points to lead 17-11. Gregoria struggled to get up and give up the first game.
The start of the second game was tight and Gregoria had overtaken for a 10-7 lead, but unfortunately the opponent scored four points to take the lead during the break.
Gregoria then identified the score twice 11-11 and 12-12 before Han Yue distanced himself by four points. At critical points, Gregoria got closer, but everything was in vain.
This is Gregoria's third consecutive defeat to Han Yue. Two previous negative results occurred at All England 2025 in April 2025 and the 2024 Arctic Open.
Overall, this is Gregoria's sixth defeat against world number three badminton players from a total of 10 of their competitive clashes.
Gregoria's defeat also ensured that the Indonesian women's singles no longer had representatives. Previously, Putri Kusuma Wardani had already picked up the suitcase early in the first half.
