Canada-Australia Support 2 Solutions To Israel-Palestinian Countries That Guarantee Peace

JAKARTA - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said his government is ready to play an active role in the process of forming a Palestinian state.

"Canada supports a two-state solution that guarantees peace and security for both Israel and Palestine. Canada will work hard in all forums to achieve this goal, including through the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the United Nations Summit on the Two-State Solutions in New York next week," Carney told X. quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Friday, July 25.

In addition to Carney, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also said his country's commitment to supporting a two-state solution amid the worsening situation in Gaza.

"Australia is proud to have fully supported the formation of a modern Israeli state. In the past, like now, the global community envisions two countries: Israel and the State of Palestine. Acknowledging the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for a country itself has long been a bipartisan position in Australia," Albanese said on X.

The Australian prime minister urged Israel to allow international specialists to help residents in the enclave, and urged the Palestinian movement, Hamas, to immediately release the hostages. Albanese stressed that all proposals for forced transfer of Palestinians must be rejected.

Earlier in May, French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron, UK PM Keir Starmer and Carney made a joint statement expressing the commitment of their country to recognize the Palestinian state and are ready to cooperate with other countries in achieving a two-state solution.

On Thursday, July 24, Macron said France would officially recognize the Palestinian state at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, next September.

The Palestinian state is recognized by 147 countries. In 2024, the United States will veto the full membership of Palestine at the United Nations.

Since 2024, Palestine has been recognized by 10 other countries, including Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Armenia.
