KPK Waits For A Copy Of Hasto's 3.5-Year Verdict Decision To Determine Further Steps

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is waiting for a copy of the decision of the PDI-P Secretary General (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto which was read out at the Corruption Court (Tipikor). The KPK will only determine the follow-up after analyzing the judge's considerations.

"The effort (compared, ed) will be received after the decision is complete," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto to reporters at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Friday, July 25.

One of the things that will be carried out further analysis is the case of the unproven article on the obstruction of the investigation. According to Setyo, the judge's consideration must be observed further.

"I will not precede because the first is the authority of the public prosecutor, yes, later they will process it," he said.

In addition, the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK is also said to be discussing this decision. "After that, it was reported to the leadership," said Setyo.

Hasto is known to have been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months or 3.5 years in prison by the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court. He was found guilty of bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan regarding PAW, a member of the 2019-2024 DPR.

The aggravating thing is that Hasto as a defendant does not support the eradication of corruption and independence of the KPU institution.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that Hasto was polite in the trial, had never been convicted, and had family responsibilities.

Meanwhile, for the obstruction of the investigation into the bribery case of Harun Masiku, the panel of judges stated that the indictment was not proven.

This decision is lighter than the prosecutor's demands, namely imprisonment of 7 years and a fine of Rp600 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison.
