President Zelensky Says Ukraine Has Secured Three Patriot Systems, Targeting 10 Units

JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had received confirmation from partners regarding the procurement of three Patriot missile defense systems, while discussions were underway to get seven more.

"I have received official confirmation from Germany for two systems, and from Norway for one system. We are currently working with Dutch partners," he told reporters.

Earlier, United States President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that the weapons made by his country worth billions of dollars would be given to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles.

This sparked negotiations over which partners could contribute to the arms purchase scheme, a process that would determine the support Ukraine received.

The Patriot system has previously proven effective in destroying Russian ballistic missiles aimed at Ukrainian cities.

In addition to securing air defense supplies, Ukraine will need to cover a funding shortage of $40 billion next year, President Zelensky said in a statement released by his office.

An additional 25 billion US dollars will be needed for the production of missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems, he added.
