The Hamas Sambut Group Is Good For France's Plan To Recognize Palestinian Countries

JAKARTA - The Palestinian militant group appreciates President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of France's plan to recognize the Palestinian State in September.

"The announcement (of the President) of Macron is a positive step in the right direction towards justice for the oppressed Palestinian people and towards support for their right to establish their own country," the Hamas Group said.

Hamas said President Macron's decision "represents increasingly strong international confidence in the justice of the Palestinian struggle and occupational failure to distort the facts."

"We call on all countries around the world who have not recognized the Palestinian State to follow the example of France," the militant group added.

Earlier, President Macron in his post on social media X announced France's plan to recognize the Palestinian State at the UN General Assembly next September, hoping it would help bring peace to the region.

"In accordance with its historical commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided France will recognize the Palestinian State," President Macron said.

"I will make this solemn announcement at the United Nations General Assembly next September," he added.

Separately, Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh in his post on social media X thanked and appreciated President Macron.

"We express our gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron for his letter addressed to His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he reiterated France's steadfast position and affirmed his country's intention to recognize the Palestinian State in September," he wrote on X.

He added, "this position reflects France's commitment to international law and its support for the right of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny and the formation of our independent state."
