SKK Migas Reports Contingent Resource Targets Have Been Achieved 151 Percent
JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) noted that the achievement of contingent resources until June 2025 had reached 919 MMBOE or reached 151.9 percent.
For information, contingent resources are oil and gas potentials that can be technically produced, but not yet economical. Meanwhile, the government has set a target contingent resources for 2025 which is 650 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE).
The outlook for the achievement of contingent resources until December 2025 will reach around 1,143 MMBOE which, if realized, will be achieved by 189 percent.
Deputy for Exploration of Work Area Development and Management of SKK Migas, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, said that the existence of contingent resources in the upstream oil and gas industry is very decisive because the larger the volume of contingent resources obtained every year, the greater the potential of upstream oil and gas that can be increased to become reserves and produced in the future.
"The high achievement of contingent resources shows that the potential for oil and gas resources in Indonesia is still promising," he said, Friday, July 25.
He explained that one of the efforts made by SKK Migas to encourage the undeveloped disclosure of its status to be increased through the determination of exploration status (PSE).
Of the total 279 undeveloped disclosure structures, which have PSE reached 83 structures with a potential of 216 MMBO oil and 3.8 TCF gas with not yet PSE reaching 196 structures with potential 1125 MMBO oil and 8.3 TCF gas.

He continued, the challenge in encouraging resources to become reserves is commercialization, so that every resource can enter the plan of development (POD) phase.
Related to this, Rikky explained that there is potential in marginal or stranded areas where there is no supporting infrastructure.
Efforts to commercialize through trucking, the potential for mini LNG and mini LPG development, utilization of upstream oil and gas assets and others continue to be encouraged. We are grateful that the Government has provided support so that less economical fields can become economical with fiscal and non-fiscal incentives," he said.
He explained that the current need for oil and gas energy is very large and will continue to grow in the future. If you refer to the general plan for national energy (RUEN) that for oil there will be an increase in demand of around 139 percent and gas around 298 percent in 2050.
