Kaspersky Finds Crypto Fraud Using Google Form
JAKARTA - Kaspersky researchers have discovered a new wave of fraudulent attacks that use Google Forms to target crypto users.
After knowing the email address of the potential victim, the attackers sent fraudulent emails via Google Forms, which were designed to make it look like a notification from a crypto exchange service.
Users are invited to accept alleged transfers in crypto by following a link to a website instructing them to contact "blockchain support" and make "commissions" payments in crypto to receive the transfer.
Following these instructions can result in the loss of funds, because the entire "transfer/receivement of funds" scenario is a hoax.
Usually, the fraudulent email contains Google Forms attributes, such as a header with Google Forms logo, a link to a questionnaire and a column value that has been sent.
"This campaign shows the cunning exploitation of trusted platforms and is widely used to carry out fraudulent attacks against crypto users," said Andrey Kovtun, Email Threat Protection Group Manager (Email Threats Protection) at Kaspersky.
