Tottenham To Sell Son Heung-min After Asian Tour, Here's Why

Tottenham Hotspur will still sell Son Heung-min captain. However, Tottenham was only able to release this South Korean star after undergoing a pre-season tour in Asia.

Tottenham under new manager Thomas Frank made a squad overhaul. After signing a number of players, including West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus forward, the club plans to sell several players.

Son is one of the players to be released. Despite playing a big role in ending Tottenham's title fast after winning the Europa League by beating Manchester United 1-0, Frank still sells Son.

Moreover, this 33-year-old forward is the best selling player than any other player at Tottenham. Not only that, Son's age is no longer easy and he is not in Frank's team plan.

If he stays at Tottenham, Son will sit on the bench more often than in the middle of the game. The former Bayer Leverkusen player actually wants to stay at Tottenham. In fact, he will fight to get a place in the first team.

It's just that Tottenham is still considering releasing Son if there is a suitable offer. The North London club may ask for a price of 15 million-20 million pounds for the South Korean national team captain transfer. One of the MLS clubs has expressed interest in bringing Son to the United States.

But the Lilywhites can't just sell the captain right away. Because the team will undergo a pre-season tour to Asia. In this tour series, they faced teams among the English Premier League.

Tottenham, who last season ranked 17th in the domestic league, will face Newcastle United in Seoul, South Korea on August 3, 2025. Next, they met Arsenal at The North Londn Derby in Hong Kong.

The problem is Son is a key player in the tour contract. If the club flies to Asia without Son, then they will be fined more than half of the fees they receive. The reason is, Son is a very popular player not only in his country, South Korea but in Asia.

Even if Tottenham sold Son before playing in Seoul, then the fine could reach 75%. This is what makes the club delay the opportunity to sell the icon.

Tottenham itself has bought many players because they are again competing in the Champions League after winning the Europa League. The club recruited Japanese star Kato Takai and made Mathhys Tel permanent, previously borrowed from Bayern Munich.

In addition, Tottenham recruited the young defender Hajduk Split Luka Vuskovic. Now, Spurs are eyeing Nottingham Forest Morgan Gibbs-White whose release clause reaches 60 million pounds.
