Oleksandr Usyk Told To Undergo Mandatory Match Against Joseph Parker
JAKARTA The undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk received orders to undergo a mandatory fight against Joseph Parker in order to defend the WBO heavyweight title.
Renowned promoter Frank Warren insists the fight between Usyk and Parker is a mandatory match. The clash had to take place at the end of the year. Otherwise Usyk will have to empty the WBO belt.
"WBO has actually stated that Usyk, who won the duel against Dubois, must undergo a mandatory duel. That is the next mandatory title of the four titles up for grabs," Warren said.
Usyk only got the status of undisputed champion after winning knockout (KO) in the fifth round over Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, London, England, Saturday, July 19, 2025.

WBO is said to have moved quickly so that the mandatory duel must be carried out by Usyk. According to reports, both parties were given 30 days to confirm the clashes.
Usyk has mentioned there is a possibility of a trilogy fight against Tyson Fury and clashing with Anthony Joshua after a win over Dubois.
Promoter David aired claims after the fight that Usyk could not call himself the greatest heavyweight boxer of his time until he fought and beat Parker.
"The whole world wants to see Parker fight for the world title. He's been in line for a long time."
"He's a leading candidate. He must be at WBO. Glad to hear Frank Warren mention Parker next. Glad to hear an expert like Lennox Lewis call Parker the next," he said.
Usyk is the undisputed world heavyweight champion twice. He first won that status when he beat Tyson Fury last year.
In total, this Ukrainian champion is recorded three times as the undisputed world champion. He got one other title when he was in cruiserweight.
