AGO Will Auction Off The Assets Of Asabri And Jiwasraya

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) plans to auction off confiscated assets in cases of suspected corruption in Asabri and Jiwasraya because of the high cost of maintenance. "Asabri and Jiwasraya because their maintenance is too high, we want to try the auction," said Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus Attorney General Ali Mukartono at the Japidsus Bundar Building, Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, May 7, Ali said that based on Article 45 of the Criminal Code, confiscated assets could be auctioned off before a court ruling. The reason for the auction is because the storage cost is too high. The plan to auction off the confiscated assets of Asabri and Jiwasraya has been coordinated by Jampidsus and the Head of Asset Maintenance.

Jampidsus AGO investigators have confiscated a number of assets belonging to suspects in the alleged corruption case at PT Asabri and Jiwasraya. These assets range from luxury vehicles, buses, ships, land, to mines. "The development to me was a number of buses in Solo, then a number of cars in Jakarta. Then the ship count was carried out," said Ali.

With this auction, Ali continued, evidence of the alleged criminal act of corruption in Asabri and Jiwasraya is already in the form of money and is no longer goods. "Yes, it can, because the storage cost is too high, it can quickly be damaged and can be auctioned off before a decision is made," said Ali. Currently, the nominal value of the confiscated assets that have been confiscated from the suspects is up to IDR 10.5 trillion. In this case, the AGO investigators estimated the value of the state's financial losses to be IDR 23.73 trillion. The state losses in this case were far greater than in the Jiwasraya case.
