The Light Cable Stolen By The Thief In Koja Has Been Repaired, The Sidewalk Is Clear
JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Highways Sub-dept. repaired the Public Street Lighting (PJU) network on Jalan Jampea, Kelurahan/Kecamatan Koja after the theft of the light cable by a number of people.
"Currently, the condition of the PJU lights is normal. We have repaired the network using a 4x16 millimeter "twisted" cable," said Head of the City Utilities Infrastructure and Facilities and Information Section of the North Jakarta Highways Sub-dept., Untung Pitoyo, ANTARA, Thursday, July 24, 2025.
He said the street lights that had been extinguished in the area due to cables at the location were stolen by irresponsible people, but are now returning to normal.
The Jakut Bina Marga Sub-Department has also set up a patrol team at night to ensure that there are no criminal acts of cable theft in the area.
"Previously we have also reported the theft case to the police. Thank God, yesterday the thieves had been arrested and prosecuted," he said.
In addition to repairing the PJU lights, the North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department has also repaired the sidewalks that were damaged by thieves.
"Currently, the condition of the sidewalk is neat and well-organized," he said

He hopes that this repair of PJU lights and sidewalks can improve the comfort and safety of road users, especially at night.
"Let's take care of it together with public facilities, including the PJU lights for the benefit of all of us," he said.
Meanwhile, a resident of Tanjung Priok, Echa (38) admitted that he was disappointed with the cable thieves because they had damaged public facilities and their actions had harmed many people.
"Every time I come home from work, I always go that way, if at night it is quiet. I am grateful that the Yellow Troops always move quickly if there is a PJU light that goes off," he said.
