Explosion In Syrian Idlib, 2 Dead, 70 Injured

JAKARTA - Reportedly two people were killed and 70 injured in an explosion in the countryside of Idlib, Syria, the SANA government news agency reported on Thursday.

Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, said a civilian defense team rushed to the site of the explosion whose cause was unknown in the city of Maarrat Misrin.

Reported by Reuters on Thursday, July 24, Raed continued that the team was carrying out evacuation and rescue operations despite a follow-up explosion that hampered the response.

There has been no confirmed final death toll. Raed Al Saleh urged residents to avoid the location for their own safety because the team continued to work in dangerous and complicated conditions.
