Japanese MotoGP Gets Contract Until 2030

JAKARTA MotoGP officially confirmed the signing of a new five-year contract to maintain the Japanese Grand Prix race at the Motegi Circuit until 2030.

This assurance was conveyed by the MotoGP in a statement on their official website. They also ensure that the 2026 calendar will be announced in the near future.

"MotoGP will return to Motegi until 2030. Japan is an established and important market for this sport with a well-known fan base around the world for its commitment and enthusiasm for MotoGP," wrote MotoGP.

Honda's circuit has been part of the MotoGP canner since 2004. However, the track first held a Japanese Grand Prix race in 1999.

The Motegi Circuit was chosen to replace the Suzuka Circuit as the main venue after the tragic accident that killed Daijiro Kato in 2003.

Motegi has been listed as hosting the Japanese Grand Prix every year since 2004, except in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which at that time disrupted many sporting events.

"Japan is important for MotoGP. Motegi always displays fantastic performances and becomes a reference in its calendar," said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.

MotoGP is currently preparing for the full announcement of the 2026 season calendar. Motegi is automatically included in one of the Grand Prixs.
