TikTok Strengthens Teenager Digital Security Through Updated Family Involvement Features

JAKARTA In commemoration of National Children's Day, TikTok affirms its commitment to creating a safe and positive digital space for all teenage users in Indonesia.

Recently, TikTok launched an update on the Family Involvement feature, where parents and guardians can actively assist the digital experience of teenagers. With this update, the family can build connections in the digital space.

Anggi Setiawan, Director of Communications for TikTok Indonesia, stated that this update was launched to encourage the activeness of parents in the digital space. The hope is that the activities of teenagers can be better monitored and healthier and more positive.

"National Children's Day is a moment to celebrate the creativity and potential of Indonesia's next generation. TikTok is here to support them to express themselves, build confidence, and shape a digital habit that is healthy and positive," said Anggi in a statement received by VOI on Thursday, July 24.

Family involvement now presents the Time Away feature or Rest Time. With this feature, parents can adjust the time lag for using TikTok for their children during school time or long holidays.

Parents can also now view the list of accounts they follow and follow their teenage accounts as well as blocked accounts. In the coming weeks, TikTok will add another feature that will allow teens to tell their parents when they report a video.

Parents can set a daily usage deadline, such as limiting their use on school days and making concessions on weekends. If the deadline is reached, teens can only use TikTok with a unique access code from their parents.

Keep in mind that all users under 18 years old will be limited to 60 minutes of use every day. TikTok's time limiting is also different, depending on the age of its users.

In addition, in supporting educational needs, TikTok will reactivate special feeds for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on its platform. Now, the feed is already available in more than 100 countries, including Indonesia.
